These two lefties turned the trick in Washington's double header sweep of the mighty Bronks Bombers as they tamed the vauted Yankees to just three runs in the double dip...two of those runs were solo homeruns by league leader Roger Maris, who now has hit 8 in the shorten month of April....move over Babe? The gentlemen with the hat is Pete Burnside, who got a late call in the lid lifter and fired no hit, no run ball for the final two innings and was the benefit of a Jim Coates' wild pitch that enabled the Nats to win in extra innings. In the night cap, Hal Woodeshick, (wonder what he is looken' at?) limited the Bombers to one run in his 7 and a third innings with relief helf from Dave Sisler.
