
To open up the 1961 American League season, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was present to throw out the first pitch, then after that Dick Donovan took over and beat the Chicago White Sox with his asoortment of fastballs, curves and off speed offerings. His counterpart, Early Wynn wasn't as sharp as he lasted only two innings before he complained of stiffness in his arm after showing some signs of wildness.
