Billy Bruton blasted 2 homeruns and Frank Lary whitewashed Cleveland on 2 hits
at Municipal Stadium as the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 5 to
0.

Lary(2-0) was tremendous on the mound for Detroit. He surrendered only 2 hits
and 1 walk in 9 innings. Detroit managed 7 in their victory.

Gary Bell(1-1) ended up with the loss. He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 6
innings.

13,913 fans watched an exciting game at Yankee Stadium. The Los Angeles
Angels topped the New York Yankees by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.

Los Angeles did all of it's offensive work in the 3rd inning when they tallied
3 runs on 3 hits. That was all the runs Eli Grba(2-0) needed. Despite
losing, New York out-hit Los Angeles 7 to 4.

Truman Clevenger recorded his 1st save. Art Ditmar(0-1) was the losing
pitcher. He pitched 7 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 walks.

Bill Skowron had 2 base hits as the New York Yankees beat the Los Angeles
Angels by a score of 4 to 2.

Luis Arroyo(1-0) pitched well in relief and was credited with the victory. He
didn't allow much, just 2 hits and no walks in 2 innings. The Los Angeles
offense proved no trouble in the 9th.

Ted Bowsfield(0-1) took the loss in relief. He pitched 2 innings and
surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk.

Chicago White Sox broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out a 7
to 6 win over the Washington Senators and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.

The deciding run was scored by Chicago in the bottom of the 9th. Floyd
Robinson smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 1st of the season) giving
Chicago the victory as 8,936 happy fans celebrated wildly. This was the kind
of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.

Russ Kemmerer(1-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. John
Klippstein(0-1) suffered the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 hit and no
walks without retiring a batter.
