15,066 fans watched an exciting game at Memorial Stadium. The Baltimore
Orioles tallied 4 runs in the 5th inning and topped the Minnesota Twins by
the slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.

In the 5th inning Baltimore scored 4 runs with the help of 3 hits. The big
moment was provided by Russ Snyder who electrified Memorial Stadium when he
slapped a base-hit which was good for two runs. Baltimore finished with 9
hits while Minnesota ended up with 6.

Dick Hall(1-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 5 and 1/3 innings. Gordon Jones
got the save, his 1st. Pedro Ramos(1-1) ended up with the loss. He
surrendered 9 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings.

Hal Brown had a strong outing at Memorial Stadium as the Baltimore Orioles
beat the Minnesota Twins 3 to 1.

Brown(1-0) was very good in the win. He didn't give up much, just 5 hits and
1 walk in 9 innings. The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither
team was able to score again.

The loss was charged to Jack Kralick(0-1). He was a hard-luck loser as he did
not allow an earned run in his 7 innings of work.

Second baseman Danny O'Connell had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Dick Donovan took
a no-hitter into the 7th inning as the Washington Senators defeated the
Cleveland Indians 5 to 0 at Griffith Stadium.

Donovan(2-0) simply dominated Cleveland. He allowed only 3 hits and 2 walks
in 9 innings improving his ERA from 2.00 to 1.00. The right-handed Donovan
lost his no-hit bid when Jimmy Piersall singled with one out in the 7th
inning. Washington finished with 13 hits in the victory.

Johnny Antonelli(0-1) took the loss. He pitched 4 innings giving up 6 hits
and no walks.
