Homeruns- D.Brown(1st)

Frank Lary whitewashed Chicago and Dick Brown collected 4 RBI with one swing
of the bat as the Detroit Tigers topped the Chicago White Sox by a score of 7
to 0 at Tiger Stadium.

Lary(1-0) was in control of the game from the outset. He allowed only 7 hits
and 3 walks in 9 innings. Detroit rapped out 11 hits for the afternoon.

Frank Baumann(0-1) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 2 runs and 4 hits
in 4 innings.

Gary Bell carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Cleveland Indians
topped the Washington Senators by a score of 1 to 0 at Griffith
Stadium.

Bell(1-0) was simply too much for the Washington batters. He didn't allow
much, just 2 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. The right-handed Bell lost his
no-hit bid when Joe McClain singled with two outs in the 6th inning.
Washington had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

McClain(0-1) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 5 hits and 3 walks in 9
innings.

Homeruns- J.Gentile(1st)

Camilio Pascual dominated striking out 11 Baltimore batters at Memorial
Stadium where the Minnesota Twins beat the Baltimore Orioles by the score of
3 to 1.

Pascual(1-0) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't give up much,
just 5 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. The pitchers took over after the 2nd
inning as neither team was able to score again.

Jack Fisher(0-1) was hit with the loss. 'He was really impressive tonight,'
Fisher said of his counterpart. 'Our guys were just swinging at air.'
