Expansion teams win two

Reno Bertoia and Albie Pearson each hit three run homeruns for their expansion teams as both the Twins and Angels won their first games ever!

Rocky Colavito had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Tiger Stadium as the Detroit Bengals
won in their last at-bat beating the Cleveland Tribesmen by the count of 5 to
4.

The game was won by Detroit with a run in the 9th inning. After an out was
recorded, Billy Bruton reached on an error. Al Kaline stepped up to the
plate and he hit a single. Colavito then slapped a one-base hit making
Detroit victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Detroit had 11
hits overall, while Cleveland had 8.

Jim Donohue(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Frank Funk(0-1)
took the loss in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning allowing 2 hits and no
walks.

Eli Grba allowed Bill Rigney to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as
the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Baltimore Orioles in 10 innings by the
score of 6 to 5 at Memorial Stadium.

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Los Angeles came
out the victor in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Del Rice
delivered a solo blast (his 1st of the season). Los Angeles had a total of
10 hits for the game.

The victory was credited to Grba(1-0) who went the distance, allowing 5 runs.
Wes Stock(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief.

Bill Monbouquette was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game as the Boston Red Sox beat the Kansas City Athletics by a score

Monbouquette(1-0) earned his pay with a solid performance for Boston. He went

the afternoon.

Pedro Ramos was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and Earl Battey had 2 base hits at Yankee Stadium as the
Minnesota Twins beat the New York Yankees 6 to 5.

Ramos(1-0) delivered a fine performance for Minnesota. He allowed 9 hits and
3 walks in 9 innings. Minnesota won despite being out-hit by New York 9 hits
to 6.

The loss was charged to Ralph Terry(0-1) in relief. 'I was a little good, a
little bad and a little ugly.' said Ramos, 'I was just giving us a chance to
win.'
