The early leader in homeruns in the American League is the one, the only, Marvelous Marv Throneberry. He has poled 3 out, one was a grand slammer. Unfortunateley Marv will get traded to the Baltimore Orioles, who already have a lefthand hitting firstbaseman in Diamond Jim Gentile. He later that year was not protected and he was selected by the New York Mets where he got his bumbling label as a part of those "Amazin' Mets". He once was called out after hitting an apperent triple, for missing second base. On Casey Stengel's way out to protest the call, his firstbase coach said, "Don't bother Skip, he missed firstbase too".
